Massimo Moretti,
nato a Imperia nel 1971, è un compositore
italiano.
Ha studiato Pianoforte, Composizione,
Strumentazione per banda e Musica da Film.
Fondamentale è stato l’incontro con il Maestro
Luchino Belmonti grazie al quale si è
impadronito dei fondamenti dell’orchestrazione
oltre che a studiare “La teoria musicale della
scala integrale” elaborata dallo stesso M°
Belmonti.
Dopo il periodo trascorso “a bottega” dal
Maestro, lascia la sua città natale per
proseguire gli studi musicali prima al
Conservatorio di Torino e successivamente al
Conservatorio di Parma dove frequenta le classi
di Composizione del M° Emilio Ghezzi, di Lettura
della partitura del M° Leandro Bonelli,
Strumentazione per Banda del M° Andrea Saba,
Musica da Film del M° Riccardo Moretti, Organo
Complementare del M° Paolo Oppici.
Nel 1996 partecipa ad una Master Class tenuta
dal M° Gyorgy Ligeti.
La sua innata predisposizione alla “musica per
immagini” gli permette di distinguersi
nell’ambito del Corso Sperimentale di Musica da
Film del Conservatorio di Parma (all’epoca il
primo corso attivo in Italia). Questo gli
consente di acquisire molta esperienza nella
difficile pratica, tipica degli anni ’20 del XX
secolo, di comporre per pianoforte, ensemble da
camera e orchestra per accompagnare la
proiezione di film con esecuzione della musica
dal vivo.
Nel 1997 il Festival Ultrapadum commissiona al
Conservatorio di Parma una colonna sonora
originale da eseguire durante la proiezione del
film “The Son of the Sheik” di George
Fitzmaurice (l’ultimo film interpretato da
Rodolfo Valentino nel 1926). Il Conservatorio
affida il lavoro a Massimo che dirigerà la
partitura di circa 60 minuti, insieme al suo
ensemble, solamente 3 giorni dopo aver ricevuto
l’incarico.
Durante gli anni del Conservatorio scrive musica
per Concerti, Documentari, Film Istituzionali e
il Cinema.
In qualità di compositore e orchestratore ha
collaborato con orchestre italiane ed estere
(Orchestra Filarmonica di Sanremo, Orchestra
Sinfonica di Sanremo, Orchestra Amadeus, I
solisti di Parma, Archaeus Ensemble, Orchestra
della Chi-Mei Fine Arts Foundation di Taiwan,
Orchestra del Festival Busseto Musica).
Le sue musiche sono state trasmesse da numerosi
network tra cui RAI 1, RAI 2, RAI 3, CANALE 5,
RETE 4, ITALIA 1, RAI INTERNATIONAL, RAI SAT,
FRANCE TV, SKY).
In passato è stato membro della Direzione
Artistica del Festival delle Alpi Marittime
(Italy).
Nel 2007 fonda la MAXMOREMUSIC Original
Soundtracks.
Dal 2009 compone musica per la pubblicità
lavorando con le migliori agenzie pubblicitarie
e case di produzione italiane. Tra i marchi per
cui scrive ricordiamo Fiat, Fiat Professional,
Volvo, Pinko, Benetton, Sisley, Sector, Pirelli,
Parmacotto, Einaudi, Consorzio Vino Chianti,
Consorzio del prosciutto di Parma, Olio Carli.
Dal 2011 collabora con il regista svedese Jonas
Hjelte al progetto “Between past and future”.
Massimo Moretti, a partire dai primi anni ’90
con il suo “Totem”, per pianoforte a 4 mani, nel
corso degli anni ha sviluppato una poetica
personale, molto percepibile nella sua musica da
concerto e riscontrabile anche in molti suoi
lavori legati al mondo della pubblicità e della
musica da film.
Questo processo di costante ricerca e
affermazione del proprio “habitat sonoro” (così
ama definirlo) è passato attraverso
l’assimilazione di grandi Maestri, da Luchino
Belmonti a Philip Glass. L’esperienza della
conoscenza, filtrata dalla propria sensibilità,
gli ha permesso di raggiungere una serenità
creativa che lo sta portando a liberare tutta la
musica che da tempo alberga nella sua mente.
Nel 2011 ha ultimato un’opera pianistica
commissionatagli dal Direttore d’orchestra e
Pianista Mattia Peli, intitolata “Flows”, una
raccolta di undici brani per Pianoforte Solo che
fotografano la sua evoluzione stilistica degli
ultimi anni. Entro il 2012 è prevista
l’incisione e distribuzione del disco.
Ultimamente, in seguito all’incontro con la
straordinaria vocalità del soprano Astrea
Amaduzzi, sta lavorando alla composizione di una
raccolta di brani per Soprano e pianoforte su
testi della poetessa italiana del Cinquecento
Vittoria Colonna.

Meeting the Maestro Luchino Belmonti was most certainly a turning point
in his musical career.
Thanks to
this great composer he was able to master the fundamentals of
orchestration, as well as have the opportunity to learn and study the
"Music theory of the integral scale" devised by Maestro Belmonti himself.
After having absorbed the teachings of Maestro Belmonti he decided to
leave Imperia to continue his studies at the Conservatoire of Turin and
later at the Conservatoire of Parma.
In this period, he attended composition classes held by Maestro Emilio
Ghezzi, score reading classes held by Maestro Leandro Bonelli, band
instrumentation with Maestro Andrea Saba, Film Music with Maestro
Riccardo Moretti and finally, Complementary Organ with Maestro Paolo
Oppici.
In 1996 he
took part in a Master Class held by Maestro Gyorgy Ligeti .
His innate predisposition towards composing music for moving images gave
him the opportunity to distinguish himself in the Course of Experimental
Film Music held at the Conservatoire of Parma (which at the time was the
first of its kind in Italy). This course gave him the possibility of
gaining experience in composing music for piano, chamber ensemble and
orchestra, in order to accompany the moving images of films during a
live performance, a typical practice of the 1920s.
In 1997,
the Ultrapadum Festival commissioned the Conservatoire of Parma an
original soundtrack to be performed during the screening of the film
"The Son of the sheikh” by George Fitzmaurice (the last film in which
Rudolph Valentino starred in 1926). The Conservatoire entrusted the work
to Massimo who together with his ensemble, performed a 60-minute score.
During his
conservatoire years, he wrote a series of works for Concerts,
Documentaries, Corporate videos and Cinema.
As a composer and orchestrator he has collaborated with Italian and
foreign orchestras (Philharmonic Orchestra of Sanremo, Sanremo Symphony
Orchestra, Amadeus Orchestra, Soloists of Parma, Archaeus Ensemble,
Orchestra of the Chi- Mei Fine Arts Foundation of Taiwan, Orchestra of
the Busseto Music Festival).
His music
has been broadcast by many international TV networks including RAI 1,
RAI 2, RAI 3, Canale 5, RETE 4, ITALY 1, RAI INTERNATIONAL, RAI SAT,
FRANCE TV, SKY etc.).
In the past, he was also a member of the Artistic Direction of the
Festival of the Maritime Alps (Italy).
In 2007,
he founded MAXMOREMUSIC Original Soundtracks.
Since 2009, he has composed music for the advertising industry working
with some of the top advertising agencies and production companies.
Among the brands for which he composes original music worthy of mention
are Omega, Sector, Fiat,Volvo, Pinko, Benetton, Sisley, Sector, Pirelli,
Parmacotto, Einaudi, Consorzio Vino Chianti, Consorzio del Prosciutto di
Parma, Olio Carli, Chiesi etc.
Massimo Moretti over the years has developed a
personal poetry that can be clearly perceived when listening to his
concert music, as well as the music he has composed for many
advertisements.
This constant research of what he calls ‘sonorous habitat’ has most
certainly been influenced by great Maestros such as Luchino Belmonti and
Philip Glass. This musical awareness, filtered through his sensitivity,
has enabled him to achieve great creative serenity that has led him to
release all the music that has been playing in his mind for years.
Massimo
Moretti has always been very protective of its music. In fact, it’s very
rare to come across any of his music. Only recently, encouraged by
co-workers and friends, did he decide that maybe it was time to open up
to the world. He recently completed a piano works commissioned by his
great friend, the pianist and conductor Mattia Peli.
The title of the collection is "Flows" that includes 11 pieces for Piano
Solo that reflect the stylistic evolution that he has gone through in
recent years.
In 2013,
his first record should be finished and distributed.
Since 2011 he has worked together with the Swedish director Jonas Hjelte
on the project "Between Past and Future"
In this period, after having met the extraordinary soprano Astrea
Amaduzzi, he is working on the composition of a collection of songs for
soprano and piano with lyrics taken from poems of the sixteenth century
poet Vittoria Colonna.
